Summary
- A re-entry permit preserves your long-stay visa when you leave and re-enter Thailand.
- Without it, your visa is cancelled the moment you pass immigration outbound.
- Single re-entry: THB 1,000. Multiple re-entry: THB 3,800.
- Apply at Chonburi Immigration in Jomtien or at the airport before your flight.
Single vs multiple re-entry
- Single re-entry (THB 1,000) — valid for one departure and return. Best for a single holiday or business trip.
- Multiple re-entry (THB 3,800) — unlimited exits and returns until your current permission of stay expires. Best for frequent travellers and digital nomads.
How to apply in Pattaya
- Bring your passport, one photo and the TM.8 application form.
- Visit Chonburi Immigration in Jomtien — we recommend arriving before 08:00 to avoid queues.
- Pay the fee at the cashier and receive the re-entry stamp inside your passport immediately.
- Check the stamp shows the correct expiry date matching your current permission of stay.
Airport same-day option
If you forgot to apply in advance, both Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports have a re-entry desk before passport control. Arrive at least 90 minutes early, bring one photo and the exact fee in cash.
What happens without a re-entry permit
- Your current visa extension is cancelled automatically when you leave Thailand.
- On return you receive a 30 or 60-day visa exemption or tourist visa stamp.
- You must restart the extension process from scratch — often requiring a visa run or embassy application.
